Middle C: Middle C is near the middle of the piano, to the left of the two note black group

Music Alphabet: The ABC of piano (click to enlarge)

CDE Group: centered around the two note black group.  This is an easy way to find them. A Fun Exercise:  Play all the two note black groups on the piano. (click to enlarge)

 

FGAB: The F-G-A-B Group is centered around the three note black group. This is a quick and easy way to remember them. (click to enlarge)

Basic Rhythmic Values:  Try some rhythm exercises using the above rhythm example:

1.  Say and clap the above rhythm example.  Try to do it precisely.

2.  Repeat a few times to get a precise feel.

Rests: A quarter rest looks like a “seagull”. A “half” rest look like a “hat”.                             A”whole” rest look like a “hole” in the ground. (click to enlarge)
